Little kids go through the phase of asking “WHY?” all the time. It’s a normal part of human development and it drives everyone mad in the process. Apart from the incessant repitition driving us mad, it’s also challenging because most of us never stop to question why we do or don’t do something. Most of us never analyse something unless its broken. Preferring to take a well trodden path rather than carve out our own unfamiliar territory.
For me, I guess I never grew out of challenging things when they don’t make sense to me or searching for alternatives rather than accepting something that wasn’t working for me. Over time, “why not?” became one of my mantras.
I never understood people that let others decide which box you can an cannot fit into because their view of the world meant you didn’t fit their “acceptable criteria”. I never understood people that gave up at the first hurdle and accepted suffering, pain and stress was ok. Some might call that stubborn, I prefer to call it determined and that determination has taken me to many wonderful places. Read more.
How I turned my anxiety into a strength
Although it was never described as such, anxiety has been a part of the women in my family for a long time. My grandmother was at times ‘very nervous’, my mother is ‘a worrier’, these were things we knew to be true and tried to support them with. It’s only later...
“I have always been a nervous presenter. I had an important presentation looming when I heard of Michelle’s 1:1 presentation course. I found the day very enlightening, she took a very personal approach understanding what skills I specifically needed to develop. She coached me through it giving me a lot more confidence and I actually enjoyed giving the presentation on the day. I have continued to use the skills she taught me and have changed my presentation style not only for formal presentation but in small group teaching sessions. I would highly recommend it to anyone giving presentations or indeed teaching others.”
“I engaged Michelle to facilitate a kick off workshop for a critical new project. Michelle assisted with the preparations and ran the workshop over the two days with 40 participants. The topics were complex, both technically and commercially and Michelle’s preparation and thought le
adership helped us to achieve an excellent result. I continue to receive excellent feedback from participants and will certainly look to engage Michelle again in the future“
“Our company goal was to learn as a team considering individual communication, motivation and working styles to ultimately create a performance environment with great communication.
Michelle has a great approach and provided a equal playing field for the team to learn and explore, while considering individual needs. As a founder and experienced manager, I learned techniques to modify my approach and communicate more effectively based on individual needs”
“My time with Michelle was nothing short of life changing. She provides a safe and trustworthy environment through her calm and ever so patient demeanour which in turn allows her technique uninhibited access to the deepest parts of your memory. As well as confronting the most prominent experiences in your life she also draws out your forgotten memories, both good and bad, allowing you to truly understand how poignant they have been in shaping your current life. This is only one part of an extremely thorough treatment. I couldn’t recommend Michelle more highly. She is a life changer. Thank you Michelle.”
The team at Morgan McKinley have worked with Michelle a number of times now and have always found her to be a friendly, inclusive and engaging speaker. Thanks for partnering with us.”
